Arrival & Welcome You’ll arrive at a tidy kennel and trailhead set in a quiet rural landscape. The musher (lead guide) welcomes your group, introduces the dogs and staff, and explains the day’s route and safety procedures. Refreshments and toilet facilities are available on site.
Meet the Dogs Before you get on the cart you’ll meet the husky team: friendly, highly trained dogs raised and conditioned for mushing. The musher explains each dog’s role in the team, temperament and how to read basic body language. There’s time for photos, gentle petting and short warm-up play so guests feel comfortable and the dogs stay loose.
Instruction & Demonstration You’ll receive a practical safety briefing covering harnessing, lines, verbal commands, braking and steering techniques for wheel-carts. The musher demonstrates a run and shows how the team responds to commands. Guests practice basic commands on foot so they’re ready to drive.
Hands-on Cart Driving (4 km / ~20 min) Pairs or small groups take turns driving the wheeled cart along a forest trail designed for off-season mushing. The route is approximately 4 km and takes about 20 minutes per run through mixed broadleaf and conifer forest. Expect rolling terrain, soft trail surfaces and seasonal highlights — spring wildflowers and fresh greens, or autumn leaves and crisp air. The musher accompanies each run, ready to assist with brake/steer control and safety.
Dog Care & Cool-down After the run you help unhook and cool-down the dogs, brush them if you like, and learn about their diet, training schedule and daily care. This section emphasizes responsible interaction and leaves guests with a deeper appreciation of the animals.
Wrap-up & Photos Time set aside for group photos, signing guestbooks and optional souvenir purchases (prints, postcards or branded merch). The musher answers questions about kennel life, mushing culture in Latvia and tips for mushing in different seasons.
